Going for the Pip stuff again

I sold my first Ken teeshirt pattern this very morning!  It put me in a right good mood for the rest of the day.

My lovely pal Datsundolly on Flickr has asked me if I will be doing some Pippa patterns in my new venture.   I had my first success with Pippa dolls, in the doll world, selling my outfits, and while it was a painful time and I had to sew just to put food on the table, I rummaged through my patterns and suddenly felt all nostalgic.

So yes. I shall do some Pip pattern tutorials. :)

Firstly will be a pair of pants, as those are so hard to get right and it's difficult to make them look well-fitted.  My pants fit Dawn too, though they're hard to get on because they are tight and her legs are so annoyingly rubbery.  But it does work with some patience and gentle tugging.

This pattern tutorial will include wide leg pants, slim fit pants and leggings. They can easily be shortened to make cropped pants or shorts. Any length the sewist wants to make them in fact.

Here's some visuals so far:

It was nice to work on my pristine and organised desk today - not that it lasted long!

Having been working on 12" dolls, and having spent so much time on Ellowyne and MSD sized boys and girls, it felt weird be sewing such teeny tiny garments again.   The plus side is that they seemed a little quicker to do by hand, the downside was that they were SO FIDDLY.  OMG. I got to the point where I was going cross-eyed at the end of the day.

Now for the leggings.  Then lots more photo editing.  God I love modern tech.  It empowers we solitary artisans to produce our own work and reach people without having to  trails around craft fairs on wet weekends and have to pay over the odds for a stall and not sell anything.  I've been there, trust me. It's hard.  Long live the Interwebz.

  1. Wow that was quick off the mark! I`m so looking forward to a well fitting streamlined pattern rather than my usual make it up as I go along approach :) On my rare forays into trousers I`ve put an actual waistband on and you can`t imagine how fiddly that is!

    1. It's looking good do far. I'm just trying to cram a bit of extra value into it with some leggings. :)

  2. Well done on selling a t-shirt pattern! I imagine making clothes for Pippa is quite tricksy- I found making for the lovely Patience quite small enough - looking forward to seeing the finished outfit :)

    1. Very tricksy. But it's where I cut my teeth a a dolly fashion designer/seamstress, so I should be more grateful to Pip, lolz.
